Of Mice and Men

When you read Of Mice and Men, you can see several places that George and Lennie know each other. When George and Lennie was having a conversation, George said that Lennie’s aunt wanted him to watch after Lennie. That means they know each other from before. Another example is a little later in the same conversation. Lennie wants George to say the story again, i can’t remember what story it was but it proves they have been together before.

Another one is that George always gives Lennie the fault that they’re previous jobs went bad. When they have worked together, they have known each other. George also said Lennie killed all the mice he got with a woman they worked for. That proves they have been quite close. When you see all this, you can tell George and Lennie knows each other from before.

George Milton is a intelligent and caring man. He is small of height, and wants to start a rabbit farm with Lennie.
Lennie Small
is a strong physical man, but with mental problems. He like soft things, like rabbits and hair. He can’t control his power and if he gets mad he often do bad things without having control of what he is doing. Apart of that, he is a kind and friendly man.

George and Lennie wants to settle down and start a farm. There Lennie wants to start growing rabbits, which he can pet. George says if Lennie gets into trouble he can’t be with him at the farm, they already running from trouble. But Lennie can’t control his powers and get into trouble anyway.

Caught in a Viscious Circle

Persons in the story:

Elaine: Elaine is a kind, nice girl. I think you can trust her, she is mature. Her “friends” treat her bad, but she still hang with them. Maybe she is a little lonely and want somebody to be with, especially Cordelia. It’s good she realize that Cordelia and her gang are not good friends, and find another girl to be with. I think she deserves it.

Grace: Grace is maybe a nice girl, but not secure on herself. She most do what the coolest girl wants her to, so she can be in the gang. She treats Elaine bad, its what Cordelia wants, but before Cordelia came they were good friends so i don’t know if she really want to do it. I think she most get her own opinion and decide what she want to do herself.

Carol: Carol is a nice girl, she is just not secure on herself just as Grace. In the end of the story, we see that even if Grace and Cordelia is a little mad at Elaine, she can’t help herself to ask how she is and show that she cares about Elaine. Carol should get new friends, and stand for what she means, not what Cordelia thinks.

Cordelia: Cordelia is a cruel, bad person. She wants everyone to like her, or to be on her side. If she don’t get her will, or she get embarrassed of something, she let that go out on others, mostly Elaine. She don’t even treat her friends Carol and Grace good, if they do one think she don’t like i think she will treat them just as Elaine. In the end, when she knows Elaine almost froze to death and still didn’t say sorry and became a good friend with her, I would say she is evil right through.

Elaine’s mother:I get a picture, Elaine’s mother is a kind mother that cares for her daughter, but still is quite strict with her. That she run to find her, and when she does she is quite hard to her is a good example of that. She most also be intelligent, since she knew Elaine was laying about her hat and that she realized the other girls have treaten her bad. She then rang to the girls mothers. I think Elaine’s mother is a good mother.

It was mention some other people in the story, but not enough that you can describe them.

What is the theme of this story?

I think the theme of this story is how you should take your own decisions and not listen to everybody else. Stand for what you think is best, and not do like everybody else. What somebody else say may not be good, and can effect you in a bad way. It can have a bad influence too you, and the story is one good example of how it can go then.

What did you like/dislike about this story, please be specific!

I like the happy ending, or happy ending for Elaine. That something dramatic happened was good, it didn’t make it boring to read. All in all it was a good story, but the part where Virgin Mary helped Elaine was a little weird That part I didn’t like so much but if it haven’t been there I would also think something was missing. So all in all a quite good story.
